Rangers are the best of their class when it comes to bows. Though gladiators and assassins can use bows, they won’t be as efficient as rangers since the rangers’ combat skills dedicated to take down enemies at long distances. Aside from their bows, rangers are also capable of deploying traps to halt enemy advance or if ever they get too close for comfort, rangers can also wield dual-daggers or swords, a skill inherited from being a lowly scout before. Rangers can only wear leather armors like assassins and since they don’t have that much defense against attacks, rangers will need to rely on their marksmanship skills to keep enemies from reaching them or their evasion skills if the situation calls for it. Unlike rangers from other MMORPGs, Aion rangers won’t have any abilities to call forth pets; they become one with the help of polymorphing skills. Rangers fulfill the role of pathfinders and snipers in a group, capable of tactically placing traps and keeping the enemies at bay.
After completing their ascensions, new rangers start off with two class-exclusive combat skills, a passive skill that increases their bow range while in flight and a morphing skill that allows them to transform into a Mau Templar. This transformation will increase the ranger’s physical attack, attack speed and speed, depending on the skill level and will last for an entire minute. The stat bonuses of the transformations will vary between the two races but not that significant. At level 13, they’ll have access to their first trap, capable of immobilizing an enemy, as well as lowering its evasion rate significantly. Traps consume tripeed seeds in order to be deployed and are only available to the ranger class. As rangers progress through their skill tree, they’ll be introduced to more traps and bow combat skills, including long-ranged attacks that may stun or slow down enemy movement. They’ll also gain access to traps that can immobilize targets mid-air and supporting abilities to attack afterwards. Rangers can perform these deadly chain skills from a safe distance, and even execute counterattacks after dodging melee attacks. This makes rangers very versatile fighters, when traveling alone or even with a group. Unfortunately, rangers in Aion won’t have any advanced healing skills in their later levels which means that they must still rely on bandages or potions or better yet, the assistance of allied clerics or chanters.
Rangers need to maintain a good supply of arrows and tripeed seeds, making them one of those expensive classes. Players that wanted to eliminate targets safely and accurately at a distance while maintaining average close-combat capabilities will surely love playing as rangers.

Looking for a dedicated tank or meat-shield in the middle of a fight? You don’t need to look further, especially if you have a Templar in your party. Templars are excellent defensive warriors, capable of withstanding enormous amount of punishment while maintaining a balanced offensive capability. They have the ability to heal themselves, use buffs to enhance protection and resistance and even protect a team mate and take all the damage unto themselves. Templars can also effectively cast chants of protection and heal even while under direct assault, making them invaluable allies in the frontlines. They can use swords and maces as their primary weapons (they have the option to wield a two-handed sword as well) and their ever trusty shields on the other hand. Templars and gladiators carry the same gears. The only main difference that since templars are more defense oriented, their weapon choices are limited compared to gladiators.
The Templars’ combat skill tree has a natural mixture of buffs, sword and shield skills. Some of the most notable defensive skills unique to templars include Deity Armor, (recover 25% of max HP, increase max HP by 50%, HP regeneration by 50 for 3min) Double Armor (removes all debuffs, absorbs 50% damage for 30 seconds) and Iron Wall to name a few. Some of the templars most effective combos are counterattacks while their shields are raised and after deflecting an attack. A good example is the Shield Block – Shield Counterattack – Shield Charge combo that not only cancels the aggressor’s attack, but deals damage, stuns and knocks down in return. This will leave the stunned attacker open for your own or your party’s chain attacks. Templars are also good in building threat and aggro, making them very effective in controlling enemy mobs and taking their attention away from the templars’ team mates. While in flight, templars can use a unique passive skill that can increase their stamina and agility by 10 as well their flying speed by a certain percentage. On land, templars are not very mobile characters one of the obvious Templar strategies in this case would be flying, a decision that must be made whenever the situation calls for it.
Being an Aion templar may require above average dedication since players need to know what skill to use and when to use it in order to fight effectively. Being the real tank and all, things can get hairy in a short notice, especially when fighting a huge number of enemies. Templars can very much handle themselves alone but their real strength is displayed in protecting others and fighting in a party.

Aion Warrior

One of the four main or “base” character classes in Aion, warriors obviously excel in close-quarter combat. They can wield a wide variety of weapons and their skill sets are very physically oriented. Relying primarily on brute force for offense and natural resiliency to withstand attacks, this class is very user friendly and can be easily maintained, especially for new players. Upon reaching a certain proficiency level, warriors can also become Gladiators and Templars, which specializes in offense and defense respectively.
Warriors can utilize polearms, greatswords, swords, maces, shields and heavy armors, which are not readily wearable by other classes. Paired with skills that help boost max HP, offense and parrying, warriors can take on almost any punishment and deliver deadly blows in return. Since warriors don’t have any effective healing skill, they will rely heavily on bandages, foods and potions to keep their HP up, especially in the heat of the battle. However, with the support of a priest or cleric, warriors can be ultimately unstoppable.
Warriors’ effectiveness in combat is primarily due to their easily-chained combat skills. For example, they can buff themselves to increase the damage they deal and absorb any inflicted damage to them for a few seconds and chain it with one or two of their offensive combat skills. Or better yet, lower the target’s armor rating for a few seconds before delivering the crushing blows. While defending, warriors can also increase their block rate, armor rating and stun resist to mitigate as much damage as possible or even retaliate with a shield bash after blocking an attack, which may effectively stun an enemy, giving them a window to attack.
Warriors can definitely handle their own during solo missions though it may be troublesome for them to go on against a huge crowd without a large supply of healing/recovery items or without the support of healers. This can go on until warriors reach LV9, which will be the start for quest called “Ascension” which is basically the preparation for the new professions that will be available at LV10. At this level, warriors will also learn the skill called Provoke, which will allow them to get the enemies’ attention (aggro) and take the brunt themselves. This is a pretty useful party-skill, which can protect the lesser armored support characters in the rear or aggressive players can use this to hoard the kills and gain more experience instead. Don’t overdo this method as it is always possible to get surrounded or overwhelmed; without support or allies, healing items in the player’s inventory can only take them so far.
As a gist of what is discussed above, the warrior class can be recommended for new players trying to feel their way through an MMORPG world or fans of heavy warriors capable of pummeling enemies to fine pieces.
